I seriously can't thank you enough for all of the kindness you showed me, I am so grateful! We are back in business this week... looking at the week ahead the students will have a Spelling Test, and the last Math test for third quarter this Friday. We will not have Geography Tests for the rest of the year. Please use this extra time to have students focus on memorizing multiplication facts. I sent home homework today-so students need to only choose 2 choices off of the Spelling Work Menu (unless they need more practice). Homework/Reading packet will be due Friday. Friday is the end of the fourth quarter, before Spring Break. We have had some great discussions about the Civil War and continue to work on the Civil War as our Reading and Social Studies this week, applying reading and writing strategies to our studies of key characters, and events during this time. I heard that the student's had a wonderful time at the Spring Carnival (I was disappointed to miss the Spring Carnival, but was busy enjoying my own children's events all weekend). Reminder: Thursday Life Touch will be here for Spring Pictures. Friday is Spirit Day-we are wearing GREEN Thank you for all you do. Your children always brighten my day! Good Afternoon Third Grade Parents!
I am at home correcting papers and taking care of a sick kiddo. Thank you for communicating with me through email this week. I have missed the classroom, so very much! I have heard wonderful things about the children from all of the substitute teachers. I am very proud of all of them, for following expectations and working hard with many different faces leading them this week. Our Valentine's Celebration will be on the 14th. I sent a letter home with the student's on Tuesday. Our field trip is coming up on February 21st (We will begin reading The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane next week in class). The students will be bringing home a "Book in a Box" assignment on Monday. This will be something that they should be working on over the next two weeks, and will be due on February 22nd, 2019. The students will present them (or I will assist if they are nervous) to the class. I am hoping to return Monday, but it is possible that I end up at home for another day (watching a fever very closely). Thank you all for your patience and communication. Sincerely, Mrs. Harris This week we are taking a deeper look at unique individuals in history that made a difference during the Civil Rights Movement. We will be learning about important individuals like, Martin Luther King Jr., Harriet Tubman, Sojourner Truth, Mahatma Gandhi, and Cesar Chavez (just to name a few). We will continue to learn about myths and ways of living during Ancient Greece and Roman Times. The students are reviewing patterns of division and multiplication this week.
