Hello!
I hope that you all had a wonderful break. I am very happy to be back this week (and have a FULL WEEK). We started subtraction (Chapter 3) today. The students started learning about rocks and minerals in Science today. The new homework sheets were put in the folders today. Spelling packets were sent home too. Some students had a change in the format of the homework. If you have questions after tomorrow (I will be sending home a brief note for those students), please feel free to email me with questions. We have started to do small group reading rotations this week, and we are loving it! Just a note: to start thinking ahead-I will need volunteer/chaperones for the October 31st field trip. If you would like to attend please let me know. Last, we were very caught up in our Reading Rotations, and then jumped right into rocks for Science (so we did not get to our Geography Quiz today). We will take it tomorrow, and I will allow one of the questions to count as a bonus question. Thank you- Have a wonderful week!

Students will eat lunch when There will not be a Geography test this week. Homework packets were sent home on Friday (I noticed today that a few of the students left them at school-so they should have them in the folder and have the new assignment sheet in the pockets). Please make sure that you empty the Parent Pocket and sign (this is a weekly assignment, unless otherwise noted). Thank you for your help and support. We are off to a great start this year! Mrs. Harris Have a wonderful Labor day off!Good Afternoon Third Grade Parents, We had a wonderful and eventful week. In Reading, the students experienced the online Reading Tests that we will be doing weekly. Currently the tests are based on the story that we read each week. We read the story twice, and students may read/listen to it independently each week. I allowed the students to retake the test this week as many times as they wanted-and encouraged them to aim for the highest grade possible. We talked about grades and what certain percentages mean when they see them. I was very proud of them for finding the motivation to keep striving to do better when given the opportunity. Every student that tested more than once brought the grade up. AR Goals were set for each individual, and will be entered into AR this weekend. Students should be reading at home and taking test at school (as often as possible). We will start going to the school library this Thursday. Students also have access to my library in the classroom (but these books have to stay in the classroom). Quizzes and tests were sent home on Friday. Please remove these items and sign the sheet inside of the Third Grade Folder (This will be checked on Tuesday). We were lucky enough to experience the Be Kind Crew on Friday. We take the Be Kind Pledge at Sandpiper, and talk a lot about it in our class. If you didn't hear about it-ask your student about it. Today the students should have brought home graded work (including the first Spelling and Geography Test). Please remove the papers from the Parent Pocket and sign the Signature page ( I will not highlight it-please sign it on FRIDAYS when work is returned). I will check for signatures on Monday. We will be going to the MIM on September 13th. I would like 4 more parent chaperones for this field trip. If you are interested in attending with us-please email me asap. If you have not had a chance to send the activity fee-please do so asap. If you have not paid it yet there will be a charge for the first field trip and the balance will be sent home. Thank you for your help and support. Have a wonderful long weekend. Sincerely, Mrs. Harris |
